Pedestrian Struck

Poor road conditions likely factors in accident that turned fatal

he conditions were perfect for an accident; dark, rainy and a pedestrian in black clothing.

 

Emergency crews were called out to Yale Road and First Ave. after a pedestrian was hit at 1 am on Sunday.

 

Witnesses said the man rolled over the white car after being struck. BC Ambulance paramedics and first responders had the person on the way to hospital within minutes.

 

The extent of injuries his injuries is not known.

 

On nights like this, pedestrians should never assume drivers can see them. Please be careful.

 

 

RCMP Update Monday, September 23, 2013

 

On September 22nd, 2013 Chilliwack RCMP were called to a pedestrian Motor Vehicle Incident at the 45800 block of Yale Road.
 

At approximately 00:57 a.m. a vehicle was travelling south bound on Yale Road when a pedestrian stumbled onto the south bound lane.

 

The vehicle collided with the pedestrian, a 59-year-old Vancouver man, who sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to nearby hospital. The man later died in hospital as a result of his injuries.


An investigation is under way to determine what caused the pedestrian to stumble onto the roadway. The BC Coroners Office has been contacted and may take conduct of this investigation.
