Suspect leaves without cash after brandishing knife in corner store

A knife used in a robbery attempt lays on the ground after being dropped by the suspect. Below, a witness speaks with police.


ust after 11:30 am on Monday, a man walked into the Yale Road Variety Store in the 45000 block of Yale Rd. wearing a light coloured balaclava and brandishing a large knife.

According to a witness at the scene, the man who is described as being Caucasian, thin, around 6' tall jumped up on the counter and demanded cash.

"He saw me, then he ran," said the witness.

Once outside the store, the suspect dropped the knife and threw the balaclava into a nearby bush.

Police are reviewing store video.
