Police officers arrest a man on the pavement (right), while paramedics load a victim onto a stretcher after a double-stabbing Sunday evening. Below, a suspect is taken into custody.

quiet Sunday evening in Chilliwack suddenly turned chaotic at around 7:30 p.m. when two men were stabbed at a downtown pub.

Mounties quickly moved in and arrested one man at the scene and administered emergency first aid to the victims until BC Ambulance paramedics arrived.

There were erroneous reports from assorted media that the argument and stabbing happened inside the bar, but that and the motive for the attack, has not been confirmed by police. However RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen did say in a release Monday that it was not targeted.

"One of the victims sustained serious injuries and was
transported to a Lower Mainland hospital for treatment," said vanNieuwenhuizen. "The second victim was treated locally."

There is no update on the condition of the victims.

Police are appealing to another person of interest to come forward and contact them. If anyone has information about this incident they are asked to call the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or, if they wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
