Rogers to lead Langley walk for animal shelter

Submitted by Brenda Murti, CARES

ock icon Paul Rodgers Singer/Songwriter (Free, Bad Company, The Firm who also resurrected Queen) is an animal advocate who's wife Cynthia Kereluk Rodgers, an SFU graduate and former Miss Canada, will be leading the prewalk stretch at C.A.R.E.S. 9th Annual Walk - A - Thon Sunday, September 23 at 1pm.

She wrote and hosted the #1 Ranked Internationally Syndicated TV fitness show "The Everyday Workout" for 15 years. So participants can expect a kinetically correct stretch to prepare them for the 5 KM walk.

It is the most important fundraising event of the year for the Langley based cat shelter CARES.

The monies raised will be used for food, vet bills and shelter operations for the more than 90 adult cats and 85 kittens. Cynthia and Paul have adopted two cats from the shelter and she will be walking in memory of Susie the blind cat she adopted this past February.

"Paul and I currently have seven rescued cats and one very large rescued dog. We have had as many as 28 rescued cats in our home. I'm blessed to have a patient husband and a big enough house that there is room for all," said Cynthia Kereluk Rodgers.

The walk and free BBQ will be held at Derby Reach Park "Fort to Fort Trail" in Fort Langley.

Registration is from 12 - 1pm and the stretch followed by the walk begins at 1pm.
