Terry Fox Run brings out the best in the community
Rollie Fox, leads the Chilliwack warm up with organizer Margaret Kostrzewa during Canada's largest cancer fundraiser Sunday.
perfect sky helped bring out the smiles and the beautiful people in the community Sunday for the 32nd Annual Terry Fox Run at the Landing Sports Centre.
This year, Chilliwack was fortunate to have Rollie Fox, Terry's dad, helping out. It's always special whenever the Fox family is in town for the fundraiser because itís a national event and we can assume that every city would love to have them there.
There were lots of familiar faces at the Centre Sunday. People like Dr. Michael Audet, Brad Hagkull, local teacher and Cheetahs basketball coach, Chilliwack Acting Mayor Jason Lum, organizers Dave Stevens, Margaret Kostrzewa and Carolyn Marleau, Manager of Leisure Development Parks, Recreation & Culture at the City of Chilliwack.
Great people, all pitching in to help a great cause.
The Chilliwack Community Band, who are perennial favourites, provided music and what would a local event be without a coffee to wrap your face around before the run courtesy of Tim Hortons.
It's always a treat to have a Mount Cheam Lions Club breakfast, and they were on hand dishing out pancake breakfasts. The Club usually does about $500 in pancake sales at the event and then matches that money with the proceeds going to the Terry Fox Foundation.
