Mounties close out summer with a barbeque for neighbourhood kids at the Landing Skate Park

Released by Cpl. Tammy Hollingsworth, Chilliwack RCMP UFVRD

Kids and constables had a fun afternoon last Thursday at the Landing skate park in Chilliwack.

n August 30, 2012, approximately 100 youth and families attended the skate board park at the Chilliwack Landing Centre for a BBQ put on by the RCMP Crime Prevention and Operational Support (CPOS) Unit with donations coming from Price Mart Foods.

Skate boarders, BMX and scooter riders, and spectators all enjoyed a free lunch provided by Price Mart Foods. The donation included hotdogs, chips, water, and Powerade. "The BBQ would not have happened without their generosity," says Constable Lorelei Jeffery, Youth Liaison Officer - CPOS.

The Truth Skate & Snow came and passed out stickers and some t-shirts for the kids. They also played music and showed support to the kids with their tricks and skills. "The youngest rider was 6. He brought his BMX bike and his scooter and rode both amongst all the big kids. Some of the older riders showed off there style for everyone and everyone had an awesome time," says Constable Jeffery.

A big thank you to Corporal Len van Nieuwenhuizen, Constable Lorelei Jeffery and Constable Ryan Price from Chilliwack RCMP CPOS office for organizing and managing the event. Further thanks go out to Price Mart for their generous donation and to The Truth for their support.
