Welcome Back, Potter

3rd Annual Pottery Bowl fundraiser Oct 22

Jennifer Hickey, CCAC

Potters take part in the bowl last year.

arm up to fall this October 22 with the 3rd Annual Pottery Bowl Fundraiser! Hosted from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. inside the Chilliwack Community Arts Council’s Art Room, this autumnal event raises valuable funds for the charitable organization’s children’s art class programming, community events and scholarship initiatives all while bringing together artists and local dignitaries in support of artistic expression in our city.

The centrepiece of the fundraiser is the selection of bowls that have been handcrafted and bisque fired by local potters before being lovingly glazed and decorated by well-known personalities from the Chilliwack community.

From radio stars and artists to city councillors and local business and community leaders, a diverse range of artistic talents from all walks of life are represented in the distinctive pottery pieces. The talent behind each glazed design is kept a mystery until after it is chosen by the lucky purchaser.

To participate in the Pottery Bowl, guests may purchase the bowl of their choice for $20. With each purchase guests receive a cup of delicious soup and a freshly baked roll.

In addition to browsing the creative clay creations, guests will have the opportunity to bid on a selection of unique silent auction baskets filled with desirable items from local businesses and organizations while listening to the relaxing musical styling of Henrie de Boer on acoustic guitar.

“This collaborative event brings many local artists, professional potters, and prominent personalities together in support of our arts community,” reflects Patti Lawn, Executive Director of the Chilliwack Community Arts Council. “It is not only a great opportunity to purchase one-of-a-kind art but also to take a moment to appreciate the time and talent that goes into creating each piece.”

While taking part in this welcoming event, guests are also encouraged to discover the artisan creations found in the Arts Council’s very own Gift Nook. Established in early 2016, this boutique located inside the Art Room Gallery is dedicated to showcasing handcrafted pieces by local artists. Items purchased in the Gift Nook directly support the Chilliwack Community Arts Council as well as many of the talented artisans in the Fraser Valley.

Discover a warm feeling of giving back to your local arts community by taking part in the 3rd Annual Pottery Bowl Fundraiser on October 22 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
