A Burning Question

No injuries, Chilliwack Fire Department investigates late night motel blaze

n October 22, 2016, at approximately 12 am, the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 8100-block of Young Rd.

On-arrival, firefighters from Halls 1 and 4 were met with heavy smoke and flame venting out a front door and main window of one of the units within the two-storey motel building.

Crews quickly brought the blaze under control minimizing fire damage to the unit involved. Four suites sustained minor smoke and heat damage. Occupants within the building safely evacuated and there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and is under investigation by Chilliwack Fire Department.
