Fishing Hopes

The journey has begun

Submitted by Myrtle Mcdonald

arlier this year my brother Walter and I went to the Fraser River to support several boats full of people protesting against fish farms. They spread fish lice and other infections and infestations to wild fish. In my opinion, fish farms if any, should only be inland at artificial lakes, not draining into the ocean.

There are many thousands of tanks (reservoirs) in India that amply supply fish for the villagers.

My grandparents Johann and Justine Schneider, in Russia 80 km. west of Kiev, had their own private fish farm from about 1886 until they sold and migrated in 1896 to Fort Saskatchewan NWT, before Alberta was inaugurated as a province.
