Officers collect food during the 2009 "Stuff the Cruiser" food bank drive at PriceSmart Foods.

CMP Members of the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment will once again volunteer their time to support Community Food Banks. The event will take place on Saturday, December 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

“ In our daily work we see who the less fortunate are in our community and what they do not have is what we take for granted” advises Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen. “The Stuff the Cruiser food drive is our way of providing some necessities to the less fortunate at a special time of year.”

RCMP members will volunteer their time in Red Serge and, in partnership with community grocery stores, seeking contributions of non perishable food stuffs or cash donations.  A marked Police vehicle will be at each location and the goal is to fill it to the brim.

The locations are;

Chilliwack

Price Mart Foods – Salish Plaza

Save On Foods – Vedder Plaza

Cooper’s Foods – Garrison Plaza

Hope

Coopers Foods

Agassiz

Super Value - Cheam Avenue

Chilliwack Cst. Johnson and Cst. Chaloner were at PriceSmart downtown collecting food and cash donations for the Salvation Army in December 2010.

The Stuff the Cruiser event has become a major contributor for the Food Banks which are administered by the Salvation Army in Chilliwack, Hope Community Services, and Agassiz-Harrison Community Services. In 2012 this event was able to provide food and gifts to over 5000 people.
