Trees down and power out to thousands in Fraser Valley

Strong winds toppled trees all over the Fraser Valley Monday as was the case in the photo above when this tree fell against the Tourism Chilliwack building by Heritage Park. Damage was minimal and no one was hurt in the incident.

 

he south coast of BC was hit by a wicked wind storm Monday night which left thousands without power. As of 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, BC Hydro is reporting 5 homes still without power due to trees on wires on Squiaala Reserve and a small area around Elm and Young remain affected after crews worked through the night Tuesday to bring over 23,000 homes in the Fraser Valley back online. In total over 30 areas supplying electricity to more than 3,000 homes in Chilliwack and Cultus Lake were affected by the outages.
