O'Mahony On The Move

Old fashioned door-knocking leaves canyon residents impressed

Submitted by Richard Harrington

wen O'Mahony recently completed a thorough door-to-door canvass of the "northern tier" of the Riding of Chilliwack/Fraser Canyon. This means that Gwen has personally canvassed ninety percent of all the homes.

Gwen has visited Pemberton in the northwest of the riding on four occasions, Lillooet on five occasions and Cache Creek and Ashcroft on five occasions. The furthest northeast point of the riding, Wallachin, was canvassed thoroughly as well. These areas canvassed included several nearby Aboriginal communities.

The response for Gwen was much more positive than expected. Gwen heard over and over again that she was the very first politician to come to their door. There obviously is a pressing demand to change the Federal government and the feeling is that this process needs to begin in this riding.

Gwen will now focus her attention for the winter on the core populated areas of Chilliwack, Hope and Agassiz/Harrison Hot Springs. Gwen had already canvassed selected areas of Chilliwack, Dewdney, Deroche, Chehalis Reserve and Lake Erroch.

"She hopes to have canvassed the vast majority of the whole riding by the time a Federal election is called in the spring.
