Participants take off in the 2016 Father's Day run. Below, Dale Erickson (r), run organizer.

am sending this to you because several men that have been affected with Prostate issues and if you are not aware of anyone who has had Prostate Cancer you likely will, as one out of 8 Canadian men will have PCa in their lifetime or 12 BC men will be diagnosed with it every working day. It is a very serious problem, however, if detected early can usually be treated quite easily.

So if you would like to help raise awareness and/or some funds to combat it, here are some of the things that you can do:

1) If you can make it, join us by walking or running in our event on Fatherís Day June 18, 2017. However, we would really appreciate if you would join our Team, which is PCCN Chillwack, as our support group has been promised that 50% of the funds raised by our Team will be made available to our support group to help raise awareness and pay for programs that we offer here such as our Free PSA test for Chilliwack residents. All walkers and volunteers will get a free T-shirt and a pancake breakfast.

2) Volunteer to help out for that day. Most help will be needed about 7:30 AM and we should be all done before 1 PM. Things like Registration, Parking, Trail guides, yard help, etc.

3) If you cannot help out with either of the first two items, you can make a tax-deductible donation. If so the instructions are below. If you do it on line, you will receive a return email with your tax receipt. If you choose to pay by cash or cheque and make it payable to Prostate Cancer Foundation BC and a receipt will be mailed to you after the event. But again please remember to support a member of the PCCN Chilliwack Team.

4) Donate a prize for the fundraisers, last year they raised over $16,000 and we like to reward the top fundraisers and also have a random draw for the remaining fundraisers.

As we move closer to Fatherís Day, we are asking you to step up the fight of prostate cancer and support the men you love.

This years Raymond James Fathers Day Run is June 18 in Metro Vancouver, Victoria, Chilliwack, Kamloops and Kelowna

How can you help? Join our team as we walk and run on Fathers Day to help create funds and awareness for the number one cancer for men!

Why are we participating in the run? Because this run is for the tens of thousands of Canadian men living courageously with prostate cancer and their families. Itís for all the men who have died from this disease and the families who have lost loved ones. Itís for the roughly 26,000 men who will be diagnosed in 2017 and everyone who cares about them.

The June 18 Father's Day event Is an annual event hosted by Prostate Cancer Foundation BC, a volunteer based organization that represents BCís prostate cancer patients, their families and communities.

If you can't join our team, please consider donating to PCFBC to fund research for this disease that currently affects 1 in 8 men.

Every donation, no matter how small, will have a large impact for men and their families dealing with a diagnosis of prostate cancer in BC.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and for giving the men in your life the gift of health this Father's Day.
