ncreased recreational opportunities were celebrated in Yarrow Friday March 8th, alongside the official opening of the new Yarrow Community School.
Through the Recreational infrastructure Canada (RinC) program, the Federal Government committed $449,000 towards the development of recreational infrastructure in Chilliwack. The new infrastructure in Yarrow includes a sports court, tennis courts, several sports fields and a new playground. Approximately $161,000 went towards the Yarrow project, with the remainder to the Rosedale Traditional Community School.
“Our Government’s top priority is creating jobs, economic growth and long-term prosperity,” said MP Mark Strahl on behalf of the Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification. “These projects create jobs, and they continue to provide recreational opportunities for all members of our community.”
The City of Chilliwack contributed $1.3 million towards the Recreation projects in Yarrow and Rosedale.
“Chilliwack Council strongly supports the provision of recreational activities in all our neighbourhoods,” says Mayor Sharon Gaetz. “Thank you to the Government of Canada for your partnership on this important project, which will continue to have a positive impact in the Yarrow community for years to come.”
The RinC funding program is administered through Western Economic Diversification Canada, in partnership with the provinces, industry associations and communities.
