MVA sends pair to hospital
A man lays on the ground outside his smashed vehicle until Paramedics could safely move him.
light rain was falling Saturday afternoon about 4 P.M., which may have been a factor in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Reece Ave. and Young Rd., that sent two people to hospital with undetermined injuries.
It's unclear how the man ended up out of the vehicle prone on the street. According to one witness, he wasn't actually thrown from the vehicle.
A female occupant remained trapped inside while Chilliwack firefighters cut the street sign and door off, then used the Jaws of Life to extricate her in the high-mechanism rescue.
Paramedics exercised extreme caution using neck braces and backboards before transporting the victims.
ICBC Crash maps indicate there have been 17 motor vehicle accidents at that corner since 2007.
