Sales Activity Rises In May

Numbers are up across the board for Chilliwack

Released by Steve Lerigny, CADREB/Photo Pres. Cynthia Admiraal

he MLSR statistics show 241 total residential properties sold in the month of May in Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board.

This is a significant improvement from last year when 198 properties sold for the same month in 2011.

There were 1,901 active listings which is comparable to last year's 1,831.

The number of active listings again show that there are typically more properties for sale in the Spring market in comparison to the winter months.

Sales of Single Family Detached properties were higher than the previous May with 36 more properties selling than the previous year and the total sales value of $49,842,493 was $12,261,156 higher than this same time last year.

Cameron Muir, Chief Economist for BCREA (British Columbia Real Estate Association) indicated on his latest conference call that sales in Vancouver are declining while the rest of the Province seems to be experiencing an increase in property sales. He indicated that home sales are trending higher over the last month as interest rates continue to be really good and this
has had an effect of balancing the market.

The CADREB MLSR Statistics for May, 2012 together with Cameron Muir's statements indicate that the Chilliwack real estate market is growing with stable "balanced" activity.
