Downtown and Industrial Areas Draw Thieves

Mounties remind drivers to lock their cars

eventeen property crimes between June 11-24 (9 B&Es, 8 vehicle crimes). Crime Reduction Unit successfully shut down 3rd crack shack in the area. Six apartments targeted.

 

1. Downtown Core Property Crime Hotspot Young Road Area.

 

LOCATION:

Downtown core, on either side of Young Road, between Cheam Avenue up to Henderson Ave.

 

SYNOPSIS:

Seventeen property crimes between June 11-24 (9 B&Es, 8 vehicle crimes). Crime Reduction Unit successfully shut down 3rd crack shack in the area. Six apartments targeted.

 

2. Industrial Area over to Luckakuck Way and down Vedder Road

 

2 DISTINCT AREAS

A.Industrial area, Old Orchard Road East to Evans Parkway (along and just off Yale Road)

 

B.Around Mall area, along Luckakuck Way south to Gaetz Street (on both sides of Vedder Road)

SYNOPSIS:

Six property crimes reported June 11-20. Eighteen thefts from vehicle.

 

B. Around Mall area, along Luckakuck Way south to Gaetz Street (on both sides of Vedder Road)

Around Mall area, along Luckakuck Way south to Gaetz Street (on both sides of Vedder Road)

 

SYNOPSIS: 7 property crimes (3 B&Es, 4 vehicle crimes) reported June 12-24.

 

3. South Chilliwack - Tyson / Watson Park Area. Significant thefts from vehicle hotspot.

 

The RCMP want to again remind the public to keep their vehicle doors locked and leave valuables at home or out of view in the vehicle.
