Double Trouble

Chimney and house fire keep firefighters busy

n December 30th, 2017, at around 3:40pm the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a reported chimney fire in the 6000-block of Silverthorne Road.

 

Firefighters responded from Halls 1 and 4 and upon arrival, discovered a fire in the chimney at the residence. Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire and successfully prevented the fire from spreading from the chimney into the walls and attic of the home.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

 

The Chilliwack Fire Department would like to remind the public to exercise caution when utilizing wood burning appliances and to ensure your chimney is cleaned at least annually.

Fire Leaves House with Major Damage

No injuries to crews or civilians

n January 1st, 2018, at around 3:50pm the Chilliwack Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a residential structure fire in the 4000-block of Boundary Road.

Firefighters responded from Halls 1, 3, 4 and 6 and upon arrival,
discovered a large rancher style home with heavy smoke and flames venting from the structure.

 

Fire crews secured a water supply and implemented a defensive attack on the fire. The two occupants of the home were able to safely exit prior to the arrival of fire crews. The home did suffer extensive fire and smoke damage.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported. The cause of the fire is being investigated by fire department officials.
