Better Safe Than Silent
RCMP to host Crime and Public Safety forum Feb 5
Released by Cpl. Len vanNieuwenhuizen, RCMP UFVRD
he Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment (UFVRD) RCMP is beginning its public input process to determine the community priorities in relation to Crime and Public Safety.
RCMP Detachments are mandated to create strategic priorities which reflect the concerns and issues of their specific communities and to assist with this we seek out the community opinion on a variety of Policing issues. To facilitate this, the RCMP will be holding a series of public forums; one in each of the four communities comprising the UFVRD (Chilliwack, Agassiz, Hope and Boston Bar).
The first of these forums is occurring in Chilliwack on Wednesday, February 5 at Evergreen Hall, 9291 Corbould Street. The half day session starts at 08:00 a.m. and finishes at 12:00 a.m. The Crime and Public Safety Forum is being held in partnership with the Chilliwack Healthier Community Stewardship Council.
The Crime and Public Safety Forum is the first of five public forums that the council is sponsoring. The other four forums are addressing the issues of; Mental Health and Substance Use, Homelessness and Affordable Housing, Partners in Health Care, and Time for Action. These issues are interconnected and impact on the well being and Health of a community.
“We look forward to engaging the members of each of our four communities. We need to hear what their specific concerns are so we can address them” advises Cpl. Len vanNieuwnhuizen. “It is important that we keep our lines of communications open”.
