Talking Toxins

Voice your concerns about planned waste site Jan 14

Submitted by Jennifer Woodroff, Act Chilliwack

pon reflection on the recent discussions that have taken place on the Facebook page 'Real Life in Chilliwack' and response to Jennifer Feinberg's article in the Progress, I would like to clear the air.

First off, I want everyone to know they're all welcome at our meetings. I apologize for not finding a way to include the media in the first place and I've got a solution. I believe this solution will balance the needs of the media with the requirement for creating a safe space for dialogue for meeting participants.

For that reason, the media is invited to a press conference at 5:30 pm at Decades Coffee House. Following a brief statement, questions will be invited. After that, the media may take off their “press hats” and participate as citizens.

We are also pleased to welcome Glen Thompson of the Friends of the Chilliwack River Valley to talk about the proposed hazardous waste treatment and transfer facility on the Fraser River. This is just one example of the many concerns facing our city.

When: Tuesday, January 14, 5:30 pm (Media Conference), 6 pm (Inaugural Meeting of ACT)

Where: Decades Coffee House on Wellington Avenue
