Farm Institute meeting Jan 10 to set up event committees

Submitted by Peter Whitlock, Ryder Lake Farmer's Institute

he main topic on the Agenda for this meeting will to set up the two major committees that put on the events during the year.

The Ryder Lake Ramble Committee  (Ramble only)

The Ryder Lake Community Committee (All other events)

If you have ideas about community events you would like see happen in Ryder Lake or have suggestions on how to make the 2013 Ramble even better,  please let us know.

If you would like to get more involved in the Community and are willing to participate as a member of either of these committees that would be great too (You don't have to be a WI or FI member). Let me know by Thursday and I will add your name to the nominations lists.

Examples of events the RLFI has put on in past years are:

** Name That Tune, Music Trivia night fund raisers
** The Ryder Lake Ramble
** The Annual Flea Market
** The Farmers' Market Day
** Pot Luck Dinners, including the "Taste of Ryder Lake Pot Luck Dinner"
** The Christmas Craft Fair
** The Breakfast with Santa
** The Annual Community "Pitch In" neighbourhood clean-up event

Ryder Lake has a great community spirit and most of these events are designed to help new residents and longer time residents to get to know each other. A great way to do this is through volunteering an hour or more and having fun at the same time. I keep a list of anyone wishing to help where they can and most of these persons are called to help with the Ramble which takes up to 50 volunteers. If you want to get more involved, email me and I will add your name to the list of potential volunteers.

The Ryder Lake Farmers' Institute will be meeting Thursday January 10 at the Ryder Lake Hall, 7:30pm
