Released by Cpl. T. Hollingsworth Chilliwack RCMP UFVRD

The Charity game between employees at
Overwaitea in Chilliwack and the RCMP was an instant hit with the
community and has been designated an annual event.
charity
hockey game between the RCMP and the Overwaitea Food Group took place on
January 1, 2012, at Prospera Centre. The game was put together as a
fundraiser for Cops for Cancer and the BC Children's Hospital. A generous
$2,163 was raised from the event and over 250 people came out to support and
watch the action on New Years Day.
Several groups and companies supported the event by donating time and
products. The RCMP and the Overwaitea Food Group would like to thank
Prospera Centre, Barton Insurance, the Chilliwack Chiefs, and Elite Catering
for their contributions to the charity game. "We like participating in these
types of events and engage the community as much as possible, especially
when there is fundraising potential," said Corporal Tammy Hollingsworth.
"The game was a lot of fun for the players and spectators alike."
The game was such a success that both groups are planning on making it an
annual event. The Overwaitea Food Group also sponsors the RCMP for their
annual Stuff the Cruiser event held every December.
