Elvis extravaganza hits the Cultch March 5

original 2007 performances sold out! Now, after numerous requests to bring it
back, Jailhouse Rock is back March 5 for one night only at the Chilliwack Arts
and Culture Centre with all new choreography and outstanding performances. This
top music, dance and theatre extravaganza is will take you back to when the king
was in his prime.
Inspired by Elvis, and featuring the incomparable songs of the man himself! This show will make you laugh, cry, dance and sing along to Elvis’ most memorable songs. This show has been produced in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters in Abbotsford, Mission, Ridge Meadows and the Upper Fraser Valley areas.
The show stars Ben “Preslee” Klein who is one of North America’s top Elvis impersonators and was a top 5 finalist in 2007 and 2008 at the Elvis Presley Enterprise’s “Ultimate Elvis” Tribute Artist contest in Memphis Tennessee!

Show Synopsis
This explosive dance theatre production follows the story of renowned jailbird Johnny B. Goode. Johnny’s hip-swinging, break dancing antics to such Elvis classics as “Jailhouse Rock” and “Blue Suede Shoes” will get you “All Shook Up” in your seats and in the aisles! While the warden has had his share of “Trouble” with Johnny, this well-liked jailbird and his dancing jailhouse buddies heat up the cell block as Johnny is issued his release papers in the opening act.
Upon his release, and feeling like he’s “Got A Lot of Living to Do”, Johnny heads straight for the lights of Las Vegas. Act II finds Johnny jazzing it up “Viva Las Vegas” style to the live vocalizations of renowned Elvis Tribute Artist “Ben ‘Preslee’ Klein”.
In the glam and glitter of a Las Vegas nightclub Marie, the most beautiful girl Johnny has ever seen, argues with her boyfriend. Johnny witnesses the breakup and develops a “Burning Love” after coming to her rescue. Marie soon becomes more than just “His Latest Flame”. The attraction is mutual as Johnny asks Marie “(Won’t You) Wear My Ring Around your Neck.” Johnny’s commitment is put the test however when he finds himself seriously tempted by Vegas’ top show girl, Lucinda, the “Devil in Disguise”. He “Can’t Help Falling in Love” with both women and though he tries to repair the relationship with his one true love, Marie, his antics have left nothing but “Suspicious Minds”.
Alienated and alone, Johnny
ends up at “Heartbreak Hotel” down on Lonesome Street in Act III. Johnny
“Feels So Bad”. He realizes the mistake he’s made. Searching for “Anything
That’s Part of You”, Johnny feels more like a “Hound Dog” as he
laments “Put the Blame On Me”. Before long, Johnny finds Marie alone and
“Crying In the Chapel” where he assures her, “(You Were) Always On My
Mind.” Act III ends with love rekindled and Johnny looking for “A Little
Less Conversation” and a little more action!

ModernLee Dance Co. is a semi-professional dance company based in Abbotsford. The company’s mandate is to promote social change and raise funds for those in need. To date, this dynamic performing group has raised nearly $20,000 for both local and international organizations by staging public performances.
