Ryder Lake News
Annual market Dec 7
Submitted by Peter Whitlock, RLFI
he Annual Ryder Lake Xmas Craft Fair is this Saturday at Ryder Lake Hall 9-3 at 49265 Elk View Road.
Nettie Boyd, President of the Ryder Lake Women's Institute, will have a donation box at the Fair. They are collecting funds and donations for local families that may need a little assistance this Christmas.
Looking back to Christmas in the past I was interested to see what gifts were exchanged in 1613!
Judge Sir James Whitlock
(1570-1632) made a list of gifts received for Christmas 1613 — most
items were food! (see below) Hopefully exchanging baked goods, jams
and preserves is returning us to some of the values of the past.
Patricks Jams, Jellies and Perserves
Asian Pear Preserve
Candied Orange Peel
Cranberry Orange Sauce
Damson Plum Jelly
Ginger Pear Preserve
Grape Kiwi Jam
Grape Kiwi Jelly
Pear Ginger Jelly
Quince in Cinnamon
Quince and Ginger Spread
Red Pepper Jelly
Rose Hip Jelly
Spiced Pear Jelly
3 Pepper Jelly
