Friday December 9, 2011 Health News Golfing For Greenbacks Alpine Disposal and Jolly Miller pitch-in to raise $14,150 Released by Jessica Boltd, FVHCF
Dave Archibald (L), Vikki Raw, Don Mayhew, Poma Dhaliwal and Luke Zacharius with oversized cheque made out to the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation.
The foursome stepped in and, with the generous support of Bryan Ewert of the Chilliwack Golf & Country Club, organized a golf tournament to raise funds for the Chilliwack General Hospital. Within six weeks of taking on this challenge, the 1st Annual Alpine Classic Golf Tournament was sold out. When all was said and done their efforts had raised $14,150 for the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation. The overwhelming response did not come as a surprise to the organizers who all agreed that Chilliwack is an extremely supportive community. Vicki Raw, Executive Director of the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, agrees. “The fact that these gentlemen saw a need and then gave their own time and energy to address it just confirms what I already know about Chilliwack; it’s a community of action and the Foundation is very grateful for all of the support we receive.” The foursome hopes to build on this year’s success and make the event even greater in future years. "Through the generosity of the Chilliwack Golf and Country Club and all the participants in the tournament, Chilliwack has shown, once again, its ability to support worthy causes. I was not surprised by that support but, certainly appreciate and respect it” Dave Archibald.
