t approximately 2045 hours on Sunday, April 14, 2013, the Chilliwack Fire Department responded to a report of a working structure fire in the 46000 block of 4th Avenue in downtown Chilliwack.

Upon arrival of firefighters, smoke was coming from the home and a working fire was evident on the main floor in the one story, 1960ís structure.

Firefighters entered the house and were able to quickly control and extinguish a fire in the kitchen area. The fire had extended up the wall and caused significant damage to this room.

A large amount of clothing and other collected materials that was ignited during the fire had to be removed from the building.

The two residents of the house were not at home when the fire started. There were no firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Fire Department officials.
