An elderly man is attended to by paramedics Saturday after the pickup he was driving crashed into another vehicle at Young Road and First Ave.

t's not been a great week for pickup trucks at the Young Road and First Ave. intersection lightning struck twice in as many days Saturday around 4:30 P.M.

On Friday, a pickup truck caught fire at that location.

Initial reports indicated a fire had broken out, but other than some smoke, flames did not erupt from either vehicle. Firefighters de-energized both vehicles.

Luckily there were no serious injuries the elderly driver of the pickup was a little wobbly on his feet but made it under his own steam to the waiting ambulance and to be taken to Chilliwack General Hospital.
