Police Get Thanks For Their Work
I participated for the last three days of Alexandra Morton's Get Out Migration protest walk over the damage ocean-located Atlantic salmon fish farms are doing to our wild salmon stocks.
I would like to give thanks to the excellent co-operation and traffic control provided by the RCMP and Saanich and Victoria police forces for helping make the march from Sidney to the legislature a safe journey for the hundreds of walkers.
I found all the police officers to be very friendly to us in the caravan as well as providing places for us to park our support vehicles at each stopping place along the way.
Also thanks to the travelling public of Victoria for their understanding for being inconvenienced for short periods of time, especially along the Pat Bay Highway, through the downtown core and then from Centennial Square to the legislature, where the numbers swelled to 4,000 people, therefore causing more short delays for motorists.
It was three days I will not forget, not only for being a small part of Alexandra's historic journey to make sure we have wild salmon for future generations, but also for efforts of the police officers who certainly made the migration all the more successful.
